New York, NY

Production/Sales Internship This is a great opportunity for anyone wanting to learn about the production, sales, financing, and distribution of independent films.  This will give students an opportunity to experience the development, production cycle and sales strategy of FilmNation projects.  Interns will do coverage and have the ability to present their findings to the leadership team.

  • Analyzing script submissions for our sales, production & acquisitions departments.

  • Studying relevant box office trends and collecting information on films comparable to our upcoming sales titles. 

  • Participate and present at weekly meetings

  • Researching data on the status of independent films worldwide in preparation for markets.

  • Preparing and presenting a final research project to the FilmNation staff, on a topic of the intern’s choice.

Delivery & Post-Production  This position will offer an advanced look at International Sales & Distribution, and the Delivery & Post-Production aspects that occur globally with Independent Feature Films. An emphasis will be placed on Production correspondence on new and in-production films, business management with Independent distributors located around the world, and full-service asset management. 

  • Quality Assurance on Feature Elements, Advertising/Publicity Materials, and Screening Assets for all FilmNation Sales and Production Titles 
  • Analyze script submissions for our sales, production & acquisitions departments 
  • Assist with Screenings & Festivals  
  • E-Commerce Site & Digital Asset Maintenance and Upkeep 

Legal Internship This internship experience will advance and expand interns' education by providing them with training in drafting, problem solving, negotiation and legal research and analysis. Under the supervision of the Business & Legal Affairs team, interns will be exposed to various facets of international, entertainment and intellectual property law.

  • Analyze, review and draft various agreements including but not limited to: vendor agreements, stock image and clip licensing agreements, cast and crew agreements, location agreements and other legal documents;
  • Review credits to ensure contractual obligations are met on billing blocks, paid ad statements and main titles;
  • Research guild issues and determine SAG-AFTRA/WGA/DGA requirements; and 
  • Work closely with the Delivery team to ensure all legal documentation is complete (i.e. chain of title, copyright registration, music licenses) and adheres to each distributor’s guidelines

Development & Production Intern    This is a great opportunity for anyone wanting to learn about the production and development of independent films and television concepts.  This will give students an opportunity to experience the development, production cycle and sales strategy of FilmNation projects.  Interns will do coverage and have the ability to present their findings to the leadership team.

  • Analyzing script submissions for our sales, production & acquisitions departments.
  • Studying relevant box office trends and collecting information on films comparable to our upcoming sales titles.

What you can expect from a FilmNation internship:
All roles interact with multiple facets of the company, ranging from Marketing, Distribution, Sales, Development, and an international sales agent perspective through the performance of the following duties:  

•    Analyzing script submissions for our sales, production & acquisitions departments. 
•    Participate in regular training seminars led by FilmNation’s executive leadership team.
•    Studying relevant box office trends and collecting information on films comparable to our upcoming sales titles. 
•    Participate and present script recommendations at weekly meetings
•    Researching data on the status of independent films worldwide in preparation for markets.
•    Preparing and presenting a final research project to the FilmNation staff, on a topic of the intern’s choice.  

Qualifications:  
•    Passion for Film
•    Ability to write coverage and analyze scripts
•    Strong and confident communication and writing skills
•    Proficient knowledge of MAC platforms and Excel
•    Strong organizational, detail-oriented skills with a proactive attitude

Commitment: 
We are looking for individuals who can commit to working for two to three full days per week. Hours are 9:30am-6:30pm. Please note all hours and dates can be flexible. Internships are for credit only.
